Illustrator Kyle Hilton’s ART HISTORY 101: 16 ARTIST PAPER DOLLS, a collection of renowned artists and their signature accessories and artworks in paper doll form, from Leonardo da Vinci to Andy Warhol, to Christina Amini at Chronicle.

YOU GUYS! I have been a fan of Kyle’s paper doll…

Really excited to get to share this! Chronicle Books and I are about to dive into this thing in the next few weeks.  Lots and lots of brushing up on my Art History is involved, and I couldn’t be more excited.  More soon!

I had the unbelievable honor to do some portraits for Forbes Magazine’s annual Forbes 400 issue, illustrating just a handful of the world’s richest entrepreneurs.  The issue should be on stands sometime next week and I couldn’t be happier with the result.
Huge thanks go to Art Director Anton Klusener for the opportunity and stunning layouts.
(PS. Forgive the crude, makeshift display of these.  Trying to figure out a nicer, cleaner way to display new work on here)    High-res

I finally get to talk about this! The big project I’ve been talking about working on is officially listed and announced.  Agent Gates and the Secret Adventures of Devonton Abbey: A Parody is a 100-something page black and white graphic novel that will be out in January 2013, written by the amazingly gifted Camaren Subhiyah and illustrated by me.  And, according to our publisher’s (Andrews McMeel Publishing) official press release, this is what it is:
“Presenting a parody spin on the characters we know and love from the hit show Downton Abbey, this story is told through the eyes of the downstairs staff—especially one secretly badass valet John Gates, who turns out to be an undercover spy for Her Royal Majesty’s British Secret Intelligence Agency (the SIS). Gates and several other Devonton staffers are part of a nationwide top-secret division of operatives scattered throughout country estates, all supervised by (who else?) the Dowager Countess, a close personal friend of Queen Victoria herself.
Armed with his own superpower—his limp disguises a steampunk titanium leg perfect for dispatching enemies of the crown—Gates’s mission is to protect Devonton Abbey from foreign spies, assassination attempts, and traitorous household staff, all while posing as the valet to the utterly clueless Lord Samson. Action-packed antics ensue, romance blossons, and, as usual, the downstairs crew continues to run the show…and always saves the day.”
I am incredibly excited, as Camaren and I have worked really closely with her hilarious script to create a fun comic we’re really proud of.  I can’t wait to share some of the artwork as it gets closer to being finished.   High-res

Doll #37Katie Andrews, No Ordinary Family
A few weeks ago actress Autumn Reeser shared some really kind words about my paper dolls on Twitter and then tweeted that she’d love to have one made of one of her characters.  I instantly thought of Katie Andrews, easily one of the funniest and most lovable geeks on television.   She was sincerely my favorite part of No Ordinary Family, so it was a really cool honor to see the actress who played her say she enjoys my work.  So that said, this is a little thank you to Ms. Reeser for her kind words and for sharing my stuff with her fans.  (Plus, it was pretty fun getting to draw tiny X-Men stuff.)  High-res
